The Burning Questions: What’s Your Super Hero Name?

in Entertaining nonsense and profound thought

Last week on Daniell The Burning Question was “What’s Your Super Hero Name?” which kind of filled me with joy. And then frustration when I couldn’t figure it out. My first thought – which took me days to come up with, by-the-way – was The Mominator because my superpowers are about getting my kids to where they need to be, when they need to be there, and also raising up some pretty good kids, although I don’t feel I can really take credit for that. The Universe was very good to me when doling out children.

So not the Mominator, or least not just the Mominator.

So how about Flexibilflash? Because I’m quick and able to change tracks/directions/modes quickly and with a minimum of fuss at work.

The Bionic Songbird. Because I’m good at boosting other’s up and I sing A LOT. Just ask my kids. They refuse to walk with me in the grocery store because I may burst into song at any moment.

But still I don’t think that’s right. I’m not getting to the essense of what I am. I’m a generalist in a lot of ways, but I still think that there is one dominant super power and I’m just not seeing it. I probably use it all the time, every day even, but it’s not coming to mind. The essence of me.

Which I think has to do with humor and empathy.  The ability to face the world with laughter and to see inside people, discovering their motivation and feelings. Dare I say it? I GET people. Sometimes when I don’t even want to. So what’s my super hero name?

I don’t know. I’m still working on it. But if I figure it out I’ll be sure to let you know. That way you’ll be able to rush out into the street, point up into the sky and yell “is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s…”

No superhero name for me. But, when I was the PTA prez I DID have an awesome title. (Have plaques and awards and and magic wands to show for it too.)

The school didn’t actually belong to the ParentsTeacherAssociation so we invented a group name: Edgewood Learning Foundation.

Yes, I was The ELF Queen. For years and years and ….

I saw that post last week and sighed. I have no bloody idea what my superhero name is or should be, but at least I finally settled on a writing name. So that’s something 😉

Years ago, when I was working at yet another of the many dot coms that lived and died in Seattle, we were allowed to pick our own job titles. I came up with one that I have used since then and that has always worked, although it’s a bit long for a super hero name: Master Writer & Goddess. I have actually had coworkers throw themselves to their knees and prostrate themselves. It’s great. Especially the men.

I’d really like to see some of my coworkers (almost wrote coworders which could be applicable too) prostrate themselves. Must think of reworking my title!

I am LOL because my name on the Kinect is “Mominator.” (This had more to do with Phineas and Ferb than being a super mom.) Other than that, I have no idea. Do powers come with the name? Because the biggest power I have is procrastination with a knack for sarcasm, but somehow Procrastisnark doesn’t seem very super-ish. It does sound like a good blog name, though…
