The Arbor

I spent four hours yesterday sitting on the bleachers in our high school gym doing an inservice. Have you ever sat on bleachers, even really nice bleachers for that length of time? My butt still hurts.

On a more positive note; I was out trolling our property for birch trees that maybe I’d be able to cut down, and I noticed our neighbor had chopped some down on the side of his drive. They were falling over, as birches are wont to do, and he took them down before they blocked his drive.

So I marched up to their house. Hiked more like it, they have the steepest doggone drive. I was huffing by the time I reached the top. Anyway, I asked if I could have the trees. Yes, I could. Yay! So I filled them in on the goings on at school and walked back down the drive. Much easier. Faster too. Now I’m feeling pretty good. I have the raw materials for my arbor.

With any luck by the end of the weekend I’ll have the arbor I’ve been waiting seven years to have!

In fact, I HAVE sat in the bleachers for that many hours. Times three kids, times seven years of football for one of them (three years of baseball, same kid) and three for the other, times two years of volleyball for the third, times all the years I was PTA prez, times all the damn band and choir concerts. Yes, I think my ass still hurts, and they’ve been out of school for ages now.

Woot! New arbor!

Yea on the arbor! Boo on the bleacher seats. At least they would keep you awake. I used to sit in the auditorium seats for inservice and have to get nudged by a neighbor so I wouldn’t snore.
