Today I asked the BBs to like my FB pages – Kate George, Mystery Writer, California Schemin‘ and Moonlighting in Vermont, because that’s the kind of difficult stuff I ask the BBs to do. Then I added some random homemade by me cards to the June prize bucket. Drop me a line if you want to join – (Also OneoftheotherJennifers, I’ve been trying to contact you. Do you have a FB page? If not I’m going to need to email you to keep you in the loop IF you still want to be a BB.) (BB is the Street Team. If you want to know what it stands for you have to join.)

Now I’m thinking up more torture for the BBs. Perhaps I will ask them to send out a tweet for me. We’ll see.

In other news. I’ve been writing fairly regularly. This is a good thing. And I asked Lani Diane Rich of Storywonk to proof and comment on the first three chapters of whatever the next book is going to be called. I sure wish I could contact Marly, of marly and r. They always had such great ideas and I miss them. They helped me title Glimmer Girls and are fun people. If you know them tell them I miss them and I hope they aren’t gone forever.

Anyway, I got off topic there for a minute. Lani gave me some pointers for improving the story and I’ll be working on that soon. I’m also going to start posting poetry I wrote in my twenties on the BB site. But don’t worry, non-BBs, there will be new stuff here too. Soon I’ll do another story. That’s kind of fun. Or you could join the BBs and get everything. But that’s up to you. Meanwhile I’m thinking about toughening up Bree and making her more active. And adding more conflict so that my characters actions are more believable. I didn’t tell Lani, but believability has never been high on my list of priorities. But if it’s going to be a game changer then I’ll step up. As much as I hate to hear that my book isn’t perfect, that’s the only way I’ll ever get better. Gah.

Here’s the thing with me and conflict: I hate it.

There are many books that I have read that seemed created for a battle. I could easily spend my time reading stories where nothing much happens, except fun and good events. Finding a body, that’s not in the same category. Don’t mind them at all. Speaking of which, have you ever read the Thin Woman series by Dorothy Cannell? REALLY good stories, and not much conflict. I wish she’s write faster.

I haven’t read the Thin Womean series, (although I love the Thin Man – not the same thing, I know. I’ll have to look into the Thin Woman. ) I also LOVE Angela Thirkell – a now diseased British Writer who I adore – Nothing happens in her books either. You’d like them, Julie.

Lani/Lucy is tough and has very strong opinions – good opinions for the most part – however, Bree is still your character and you have to be comfortable with her. (IMHO as a nonpublished writer 😉
I have read both of your books and found them very enjoyable. I will buy your next book without question.

Thanks Judie, I appreciate the vote of confidence! Don’t worry, Bree will still be Bree!
