New York, Dead Pork

July 13, 2011 · 13 comments

As much as I like How Much is that Dead Guy in the Window as a title, and I’m definitely keeping it for another book, I was bummed I couldn’t think of another song with a state name in the title to parody.  Then the other day it came to me! New York, New York!!! This song has the added benefit of New York being next to Vermont so Bree can be home, but a few things can happen in NYS. Yay!

But now I need your help. I can’t think of an appropriate to “mystery” play on the words. I wish I knew how to get in touch with Marley. She and R are so good at this stuff. Sigh. We’ll just have to muddle along without her. So step up, gentle readers, and let’s figure this out.

New York, Dead Dork?  maybe not. Help me out here folks!!!

Oh lordie Judie, my mom used to sing “Mares eat Oats…” all the time. I got such a laugh out of …and bodies float. Can I save that for another book?

Still thinking. Are you stuck on New York, New York? Because there are other songs with New York in them (as Lora mentioned, New York State of Mind, there’s also New York Minute, and a whole slew of others).

Dead from New York, maybe? It’s a little SNL, but there’s a song by that name, too (with Live instead of Dead).

Hmm. This is hard!

Actually any song would be good. How come all these songs didn’t come up when I googled song names! How about New York State of Dead. I do like Dead from New York too.

New York State of Dead isn’t bad. You can find more New York songs here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_about_New_York_City

Good luck!

Hmm…I’m not sure how to “mystery” it up. I keep wanting to latch on to the “These Little Town Blues” part of it. Darn. I’ll think on it. “King of the Hill, Top of the Burial Heap”? No.

It’s a mystery to me. (Haha, hoho. Don’t forget to tip your waitress.)

Dan is no R but I’ve asked him to help (because I totally suck at this), his only suggestion (so far, we’ll be back with another one or five later I hope) is:

New York, Stuck With A Fork
