How did I know?

in Uncategorized

As you know I recently painted my kitchen cupboards yellow, and Julie asked how I knew they would look good?

Well I didn’t know, but I assumed that because I like bright rooms that yellow would work for me. I like yellow and blue together, my original plan for the kitchen was one with yellow walls and white cabinets and blue accents. But when I got fed up I had light blue walls and wood cabinets and left over yellow paint. So I took a chance on the yellow. It worked pretty well, but I need to finish it up.

Actually, what I really need to do is tear the horrible low ceilings out in the kitchen. There are wood beams under there – I know because I looked – and I could add twelve inches of height to the room. My kitchen is dark. It needs all the help it can get, but the other people who live in my house with me (read my FAMILY) don’t want their lives disrupted by a ripping out of the ceiling and all the dirt and mouse poop and having to put wall board or SOMETHING up under the second floor so that dust and dirt doesn’t fall down on our food.

Why do I assume I can do these projects? I don’t really know. But if a builder can do it so can I, right?

My mom was like that. If she wanted something done and couldn’t afford to hire someone she’d do it herself. I figure most things are doable as long as I”m strong enough to lift the necessary tools!

Wow, nice commitment! Now, here’s my assvice du jour: take that CAN DO attitude and apply it liberally all over the rest of your life.
You NEED that new high kitchen ceiling too. I want to rip up the horrid carpet in our living room, but I’m a wee bit afraid to see what’s under it. We should have a destruction party. Oh wait, we aren’t living next door to each other.
