Christmas Hats

in Crafting

Sorry this is late. I was playing scrabble instead of taking care of business. Another addiction I’ll have to eventually break. Or at least maybe I should cut down my partners. Is 20 games at once too many?

As you know I made hats for Christmas. Some were made with felt cones I bought, and some were made from felt cones I made from wool roving. Very different experiences but I won’t bore you with the details.

The hats I made with premade cones were top hats. I felt they had to be professional looking or the recipients wouldn’t like them (hence the professionally made cones).

Pretty Good, if I say so myself. I made three of these but I can’t find all the pictures. not that it matters, other than the decoration they all look pretty much the same.

Here’s a picture of the beginning steps of top hat making. (Did I tell you i made my own hat forms out of spray foam insulation? I know! I’m so clever.)
On Monday I’ll show you my hand felted hats. I’m doing one for myself as we speak.

By “Scrabble” do you mean Words With Friends? Because I need more games. [snick]
I’m impressed with your hat making skilz!

Hey Kat, thanks. If only top hats were in fashion I could make a living! And no, not Words with Friends – I play on the actual Scrabble ap. Although, I suppose I could do words with friends… (Do they have 12 step programs for word games addiction?)

This top hat is awesome! It looks like it should be on a shelf at a high-end store!

Those hats look amazing! They look completely professional: I’d say you have a new career just waiting for you! And they look so awesome, you should charge a lot of money for them. Just sayin’. Well, maybe provide a Betty discount …. 🙂
