Bad Advice from Bitchy Bertha: Teen Troubles

in Entertaining nonsense and profound thought

Dear Bitchy Bertha,

I have a number of Children.  When my oldest was a teen and my younger children were still in elementary school we would often wait outside the high school for thirty minutes or more when it was time to pick her up. She always had a good excuse – she needed to talk to a teacher, or get a homework assignment, or her class got out late. It was annoying and I thought my younger kids might have learned how rude that was.

Fast forward: My three youngest children are now all teenagers. When I get to the high school to pick them up two of them come out to the car very promptly, but the third can keep us waiting for what seems like a lifetime. Obviously, that son either does not remember what waiting was like for him, or he feels it’s his privilege because he had to wait now others can wait.

I mentioned something to him this evening, but he didn’t even respond to me. I’m at a loss as to what to do.

Tired of Waiting

Dear Tired,

Warn him once. The next time leave without him. I don’t tolerate that kind of inconsiderate behavior from any one. In fact, at this point I wouldn’t even warn him once. Just leave his ass there and let him make his own way home.
