It’s time for another giveaway! Up for grabs – two $25 Amazon gift cards! Yay!
So how do you get in on this? If you have read, or are willing to read California Schemin’ (available online in both paperback and ebook format, or you can order from your favorite bookstore) then leave a comment about what genre of mystery you think CAS falls into. Is it a Caper? A Cozy? Romantic Suspense? Thriller? There are tons of categories a mystery novel can fall into. Choose one and then justify your choice.
Don’t want to read in order to win? No problem! Just tell me what your favorite genre to read is. It could be a mystery genre (see above), or romance, or literary fiction, or self help books. There is no right or wrong answer here. I just want to hear from you.
And if you are shy, but want to enter anyway: Just write “I’m entering the contest” in the comments. That’s all it takes.
The drawing will be at the end of April, so you’ve got all month to cogitate on your reply!

Congratulations ladies, You’ll be getting emails from me shortly.
I think CAS falls into the romantic suspense category.
I read both Bree books in February and really enjoyed them. I can’t wait for more and looking forward to more Hammie.
I don’t know that I’ll have time to read the story prior to the end of April, sadly, so I will simply share my favorite genres. (If it was downloadable in audio, I have 8 hours of driving this weekend I could have listened to it. Just sayin’
)
I like cozy – broadly over all the genres. So, romance is what I primarily read and I love the contemporary, light-hearted, funny, snarky, feel-good romance. Jenny Crusie’s “Bet Me” is my favorite. For mystery, obviously cozy such as Elizabeth Peters books – “Crocodile on the Sandbank.” For Sci Fi/Fantasy, it is on the fantasy side of the house and typically YA versions – C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” is a classic favorite. Westerns – not really for me – but I did read 2 for my Adult Pop Lit class and I found that they contained romance and adventure and sometimes mystery too, just in a specific setting.
Comics/Cartoons/Manga probably doesn’t really count as a genre, right? If it did, I love the one again that make me laugh. Frazz is an excellent current cartoon, along with Unshelved and Sheldon. For Manga, I love Fruits Baskets (until someone very bent came in and took over the plot) and Fushigi Yugi – fantasy romance with very lovely men.
Mystery suspense? with extra wildlife!
it’s so hard to pick one favorite genre! i love fiction, romance, and love stories!
I would say drama mystery. Or romance mystery. The books were amazing
I’m re-reading both books for fun, wishing there was a third novel ready to read… have really enjoyed both books.
Not sure which category I would put them in – perhaps mystery or suspense? Not much help, sorry, but can’t wait for the next Bree installment.
For me it’s romantic suspense. It’s so hard to fit it in to a category since it does have the caper aspect to it but I’ll go with my initial thought!
I would love to win!

Romantic mystery–luv the humor and down to earth writing
IMHO it’s a romantic suspense novel. There is a murder mystery to solve. And lots of danger. There is also enough romance for it to be in the romance genre of which romantic suspense is a sub category.
I would love to win the prize. I’m the amazon queen. What I’d like even more from Kewl Kate, though, is book 3.
What up with that – sistah?
I love contests!
And I love Kewl Kate!!!
(Does that count?)
I love a good drama novel with a great love story
Hi Kate I just followed your sig link from the yahoo group and while I haven’t read your book yet, I’d be happy to! So until then…
I would call CAS a Suspenseful Caper. It doesn’t seem to fall fully into either because there’s more suspense than I normally ascribe to capers, but then there is less fear of the death of the MC than I normally ascribe to suspenses. I don’t see it as a romantic anything because there isn’t a lot of romance to it: the men with that potential seem to annoy her more than anything.
It’s definitely not a cozy! Bree’s life is anything but that!
